She completed her training in General Pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC in 2010.
Dr.Akl worked in the Pediatric Emergency Room and Inpatient unit for a few years before transitioning to Outpatient Pediatrics. She enjoys supporting families with all their children's healthcare needs from newborn to young adulthood. In addition, she is passionate about preventive care, the importance of vaccines, and access to mental health.
Dr. Akl has a special interest in global medicine and volunteers in underserved areas in Central America on a regular basis to provide care to the same remote communities where access to healthcare is very limited.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband George and their 3 children, Dora 11, Sophie 8 and Alex 6. She goes back to Beirut every year to see her extended family and also loves traveling and learning about new cultures and their customs. Dr.Akl also loves yoga, cooking, long walks with her dog Zoe and exercising on her Peloton bike.
