If you are admitted to MacNeal Hospital or LaGrange Hospital, you may be seen by a full time hospital physician (hospitalist) rather than by one of the doctors in our practice. We have found that these hospitalist physicians practice very high quality medicine; they are often able to see the patients more than once per day, if needed. In turn, this arrangement allows your doctor to increase their overall number of outpatient office hours, which then enables better access for our patients to be seen by their primary care physician.
Be assured that your physician and the hospital physician will maintain ongoing communication about your stay in the hospital. Once you are discharged from the hospital, you will return to see your regular physician at Primary Care Associates.
The physicians of PCA participate in many insurance companies including many HMOs and PPOs. All of our patients with HMO insurance must go to MacNeal Hospital while most of the PPO insurances can go to either MacNeal Hospital or LaGrange Hospital. Pediatric patients may be referred to large pediatric centers for subspecialty care. Please be sure to contact your insurance company to verify hospital coverage and to clarify your pharmacy policy. You may contact our referral coordinator through our secure messaging system by clicking on Referral Desk. Our insurance authorization coordinator will assist you with any pending issues after your physician has completed the initial forms.
