Dr. Shelia Berndt

Dr. Sheila Berndt graduated from medical school in 1976 at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. A native of Scotland, she moved to Chicago in 1976 and completed her family practice residency here. She became board-certified in Family Medicine in 1981, and is currently still board-certified, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family physicians. Dr. Berndt was involved in training Family practice residents, and was Center Director for MacNeal Hospital’s Family Practice Residency Program for 4 years, and then joined Drs. Brad and Gary Wainer of Primary Care Associates in 1989. She has enjoyed being part of the practice for a number of years now, and was closely involved in developing the practice and designing our current building.

Dr. Berndt enjoys the variety of problems that we see in a busy family practice environment, especially the opportunity to care for families as a whole, and feels privileged to have seen many newborn babies grow into young adults, as well as care for the older population as their needs change. She particularly likes womens’ health care, with the opportunity to provide counseling, preventative medicine, contraception and gynecologic care to relatively healthy people. However, the absolutely best part of being a family doctor over a long period of time is the opportunity to develop relationships with patients and their families.

Dr. Lori Weiss

Dr. Lori Weiss was originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Washington University in 1979 and subsequently received her MD Degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1985. Dr. Weiss was a Pediatric Intern and Resident at The Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago from 1985-1988 and spent a subsequent year as Chief Pediatric Resident at The Children’s Memorial Hospital. She is an experienced pediatrician who has been practicing in the Western Suburbs for over 20 years.

Dr. Weiss sees children from birth until 19 years of age. She believes that as your child’s physician, she should act as an advisor and advocate for your child’s physical and emotional development. The most gratifying aspect of pediatrics for her is to watch young infants and toddlers grow and mature throughout their childhood and adolescence.

Dr. Weiss leads an active life outside of medicine. She is married to Dr. Brad Wainer and they have three wonderful children- Jessica, Zachary, and Carolyn. Her hobbies include participation in choral music groups, music composition, sewing, and regular exercise.
