THE PHYSICANS OF PRIMARY CARE ASSOCIATES

Primary Care Associates (PCA) is comprised of six physicians. Drs. Brad Wainer, Sheila Berndt, Nejat Destani, Michael Gershberg, and Matthew Hsieh specialize in Family Medicine.  Dr. Lori Weiss specializes in Pediatrics. All of the Physicians are Board Certified in their specialties and are on staff at both MacNeal Hospital and LaGrange Hospital. Dr Weiss is also affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hospital. 

HISTORY OF PCA

In 1986, Drs. Gary and Brad Wainer began a practice with the goal of providing primary care medicine for the whole family- from birth through the golden years. We began our life in a small office at the corner of 34th and Oak Park Ave. As the practice grew, we moved to our current location in November, 1993. Our practice has expanded since that time to include six physicians who are all Board Certified within the fields of Family Medicine or Pediatrics. Dr Gary Wainer, one of the founders of the practice, has since left the practice and is now working as the Medical Director of Chicago Health Systems.

We strongly believe that each patient should have a primary care doctor who cares for all ongoing medical problems. This allows the physician and patient to develop a strong rapport which, over time, will improve our ability to provide high quality medical care. We leave appointment slots available every day in order to accommodate patients who need to be seen emergently. While we make every attempt to have you see “your physician,” we may ask you to see one of the other physicians in the practice if your physician is unavailable. All patient records are kept in a secure Electronic Medical Record (EMR) which allows each physician access to your individual medical record at any time.
